Remarks notes for Mary (Spouse 1)
Mary’s documented history has a unusually high number of proven errors of fact:

• 1865 Census Error son Henry age 10 birth place shown as Scotland but later he is born in Canada

• 1870 Census (enumerated August 17 ) - Errors - Mary’s place of birth should be Scotland not England
Son Hugh’s age is given as 16 but should be 18 or 19
Son Hugh’s place of birth should be Canada not New York
Henry's age age is given as 14 but should be 15
Henry's place of birth should be Canada not New York
Martha age is given as 8 but Martha was born 20 Jun 1860 so her age should be 10 in August 1870
Grace age 13 is correct
Lizzie age 4 is correct

Mary’s documented history has a number of fact which could be erroneous:

• 1860 Census (enumerated 28 June) Possible error on son Hugh’s age 8

birth place shown as New York but they were living in Canada at that the time. It is possible that they were visiting Mary’s brother who lived in Buffalo when birth occured.

• 1865 Census Error son Hugh age 12 birth place shown as Scotland but they were living in Canada at that time.

Unexplained other unusual documented stuff.

1865 Census Error daughter Grace age 7 . Birth place shown as Erie County NY but they were living in Smith Mills Chautauqua County at that time. Could be she was born at a relatives house in Irving, Erie Co. which is not far from Smith Mills.

1865 Census Error daughter Martha age 4 . Birth place shown as Erie County NY but they were living in Smith Mills Chautauqua County at that time. Could be she was born at a relatives house in Irving, Erie Co. which is not far from Smith Mills.
