Anson's letter to"Geo. C. Call,
"Sir;
yours of Sept 1st is at hand. I should have written before, but I have been waiting for a letter from our uncle Ambrose [Ambrose Call 1833-1908]. We were sorry to learn of the demise of your Father [Asa Cyrus Call 1825-1888], of whom we formed a favorable opinion; and whom we held in high esteem. "We enjoyed, very much, the visit of your Father & Sister. "I am glad to learn of your willingness to correspond; and shall receive all the assistance which you can render, in the obtaining of our Geneology, greatfully [sic].

This your Father proposed. "I enclose a clipping which my son picked up in Wyoming Ter. It explains itself; and the one concerned (Joseph Call) is a brother to Asa Call ["The Deacon" 1763?-1831?], your great, great grandfather. I received it since yours arrived. This Joseph Call [This could be the famous "Stout Joe Call" who died in 1825] is the younger half brother to Asa 1st who is the son of James and also grandson of James. James the son of James was a brother to my grandfather Joseph. He James was the oldest while my grandfather was the youngest of a large family.

The name of Asa's mother I can not give [I believe it is Hannah Masters] but the second wife of James was Annie Powers. "The names of their sons are as follows: Enos, Joseph, Richard and Jonithan [or Jonathon]. With all of these I was personally acquainted, and also was I acquainted with Asa, who married his cousin, my father's [Cyril Call] oldest sister Zuba [or Azuba]. The following are the names of the first Asa's children. Irena, who married John Minkley, Zenith who also married John Minkley after the death of Irena. Asa who married his cousin Betsy, the daughter of Cyrus [I believe this is the Cyrus in your note] and she died without children. Asa then married Polly [or Mary] Metcalf. [From whom I am descended.] "Zuba, who married Elijah Minkley, John's brother. "Polly whose husband's name I have forgotten. She had no children. "Betsy married Horrace Tubs. "Alma married his cousin Ennis [Eunis?], the widow of his younger Brother Ambrose. Ennis [Eunis?] was the daughter of Jonithan & Trifena who by the way was older than Ambrose. She married Albert Peas. "My parents had 13 children - 12 of them lived to have families and all of them except my oldest brother came to this territory. He died on the way here. We all belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints. Six of us are boys. "Scores of Minkleys, before referred to, live in your state. Some at Masonville, Delaware Co.
