Served in the US Navy during WW II on the USS Edmonds DE406 and retired from the Navy on th e 30 th. of June 1978 after 21 years in the reserves. His last assignment with the Navy being the Bureau of Weapons Unit. Worked for Stauffer Chemical, E. I. Dupont and National Gypsu m where he was in purchasing.
He met his wife prior to the war. Has a degree in Chemistry fro m Canisius College Buffalo NY graduating in 1941 he joined the Navy the next week on the 20 th. of Aug 1941 he became an ensign. Resided at 28 Briggs Ave Buffalo which was built in 191 7 a few doors up from the river. In the two photos attached Bob is in the black sweatshirt o r seated in the center on the picnic table at Red Cedar Lake Ontario Canada. In the fall of 2002 Bob was diagnosed with internal cancer in the lower abdomin. He took one chemo treatment which really hit him hard.
He slowly went downhill into a hospice situation at Schofield Re sidence on Elmwood Ave in the Town of Tonawanda. I visited him there on the 7 th. of October and he died about 8:40 AM on the 8 th. At his funeral was a sampler with this qoute on it : " When someone you love becomes a memory that memory becomes a treasure."

Dorris was a very nice person always cheerful and steady. Born at 28 Briggs Ave in Buffalo Ne w York and died there. Passed away after a long battle with Non-hodgkins lymphoma. I attende d her funeral on the 10 th. of Nov. 2000 at St. John the Baptist Church on Hertel Ave in Buff alo. This is same church she was baptized in and married in !
