Thank you to have answered my correspondence of December 28. Allow me to present myself. I am the secretary and also one of the two principal genealogists of the Association of Prévost and Provost of America. The purpose of this association is to make known the History of Prévost and Provost. We began in Quebec and because we had already friends in the United States, association took much width, so that we have members in the Netherlands, in Holland, in Belgium, etc.
One of our members, Claude Provost has a site on Internet which receives many visitors. My search on the Internet enabled me to make the discovery of an announcement of death published in a newspaper of the United States: it was that of Joseph Pruvot (Provost) husband of Mary Ann Salloit (Saillot). The notice mentioned that Joseph had been born in Lière in FRance on November 4, 1860. His wife was born in France on April 25, 1862. She died on October 2, 1939 and was buried in Waverly, Ohio.

Supposely this family still has descendants in Ohio, I carried out some search which enabled me to find Theodore Provost, son of Stanley Provost, wire of Joseph. Unfortunately Theodore has much difficulty of hearing(not true see above), a advanced deafness it seems to me. Moreover, he has a very developed accent! He does not speak French any more. I asked the regional manager of the APPA to contact the family since he is more familiar with the accent of the area. I thus transmit your information to Richard Provost of Iowa which spends the winter in Arizona at present. I did not know the history of the coal mine. I thank you much for that.
We counted three stocks of Pr*vost has to have immigrant in the USA without none of its members coming to Canada. Joseph and Edouard would be the 4th stock. These lines came either from England or of Holland because they had fled the Enquiry.
On the other hand 9 stocks came to be established in Canada, in News-France whose my ancestor Martin Prévost who was first " White " has to have married an Indian, in 1644.
As you I wonder why one finds the family of Joseph in Ohio plutòt that in New Mexico. I believe that one will have to direct our search towards the coal mines!
I do not know Steph at all. Carson because it was only the second time only that I went on this site. Association has a site which you will be able to go to visit:
