Jasper Avery (1743-81) was sergeant in Col. William Ledyard's company at Fort Griswold, where
he lost his life. His brothers, Parke, Jr., Ebenezer, Elisha and Simeon, were in the war, as was
also their father. He was born in Groton, Conn.
