Notes for Ann Garretson Cox
Another problem I've been trying to get corrected regarding Chris (Ann) is
that if the researcher takes a quick glance in Hinshaw's Genealogy he will overlook:
Ann Garretson Hussey's death took place at/near Cane Creek MM, SOUTH Carolina.
That Quaker Meeting was in UNION, SC, 20 miles or so south of
Spartanburg,SC. After her husband, Christopher died in 1773/4 up at Holly
Spring MM, Randolph, NORTH Carolina, Ann and their son, Christopher Jr.
(1756-1812) returned for 4-5 years to York, PA to visit Ann's daughter, Elizabeth
Comer who had stayed in PA when Chris, Ann and family moved to NC in 1759.
While Ann and Chris, Jr. were in York, Chris , Jr. married Mary Mickle ca
1780.
Soon after the marriage, Ann Garretson Hussey and the Comers left and moved to
Cane Creek MM , Union, SC where Ann died in January, 1801.
Chris and Mary Hussey went to Randolph , NC where they sold Chris Jrs
inherited portion of his father's land in 1785. Soon thereafter, Chris. and
Mary Mickle Hussey moved to a farm near Maryville,Blount, TN (pronounced
BLUNT).
Chris and Mary moved in 1806/7 to the present site of Bowersville, Greene Co.,
OH, about 15 miles north of where I live. .
My wife and I went to South Carolina about 3 years ago to view the Cane Creek
MM Cemetery but the crude stones offered no satisfaction.
