!FROM A HISTORY OF JAMES MORGAN 1607 - 1869 BY NATHANIAL E. MORGAN PUBLISHED 1869
!WILLIAM ? THERE IS A TRADITION THAT WILLIAM MORGAN BORN 1693 SON OF JOHN MORGAN BORN 30 MARCH 1645 SON OF JAMES MORGAN BORN 1607 USED TO SAY THAT HIS FATHER JOHN HAD A VERY OLD LITTLE BOOK IN WHICH WAS WRITTEN THE NAME OF "WILLIAM MORGAN OF LLANDAFF" (WALES) AND WAS DATED BEFORE A.D. 1600 WHO HE SAID WAS THE FATHER OF OUR FIRST JAMES THE EMIGRANT.
!THERE ARE OTHER CIRCUMSTANCES WHICH STRENGTHEN THE PROBABILITIES OF THIS TRADITION. THIS WILLIAM ALSO HAD A PAIR OF GOLD SLEEVE BUTTONS OF ANTIQUE MAKE, AND HAVING WM RUDELY BUT PLAINLY STAMPED ON EACH WHICH WERE SAID TO HAVE COME DOWN AS AN "HEIR LOOM" FROM WILLIAM OF LLANDAFF.
!CHILDREN:
!JOHN - APPEARS FROM TRADITION TO HAVE BEEN A HIGH CHURCHMAN AND TO HAVE EXCEEDINGLY DISLIKED THE AUSTERITY OF THE PURITANS LEFT BOSTON IN DISGUST FOR A MORE CONGENIAL SOCIETY IN VIRGINIA SOON AFTER THEIR ARRIVAL.
!MILES - UPON HIS ARRIVAL AT BOSTON, OR SOON AFTER JOINED A PARTY OF EMIGRANTS, MOSTLY FROM ROXBURY, OF WHOM COL. WM. PYNCHEON WAS AT THE HEAD AND FOUNDED THE SETTLEMENT OF SPRINGFIELD, MASS.
